A Carbono

A Carbono Discoteca abriu em 1993, sendo a primeira loja de discos usados em Portugal. Estivemos no Centro Comercial Portugália ao longo de 11 anos.

Nos anos 90 existiam em LISBOA lojas de discos um pouco por toda a cidade: VALENTIM CARVALHO, BI-MOTOR, HIPPODROME, PALLADIUM, ROMA, CARMO, STRAUSS, CONTRA-VERSO, TORPEDO... e outras mais que hoje não passam de memórias do passado. A Carbono vai existindo ao longo dos anos graças a todos os clientes que com frequência nos visitam e queremos desta maneira agradecer o vosso apoio e suporte.

Tentámos marcar a diferença fazendo algo de novo no nosso espaço. Em baixo uma amostra das muitas coisas que aconteceram na loja:

2000 - A primeira edição da carbono - CD censurados ao vivo

2004 - Mudança e inaugração da loja na rua do telhal – festa a valer!!! E showcase com dead combo

2004 a 2006 - Aos sábados houve várias festas (fan clubs: depeche mode, joy division), som ambiente por djs convidados (amigos, clientes…) E vários concertos, sendo o último o dos dapunksportif que foi interompindo pela policia (os vizinhos fizeram queixa, o som estava alto!!!)

2005 - Exposição: "os discos mais raros editados em Portugal" - capas, singles eps de artistas estrangeiros ( coleçao do sr. Heitor )

2006 - Exposição e venda de posters de concertos (serigrafias) feitos por vários artistas estrangeiros: emek, kozik, etc

2007 - Concurso de posters para artistas nacionais - poster publicitário para a carbono com 3 prémios atribuídos

Great store. Organized and lots of records and 7". Spent 3 hours diggin'. Prices are ok, but no real bargains. Here you can find almost anything. Recommended!!

Huge Store! With everything at every kind of prices! You can find lot of new vinyl records, tons of used ones, CD's, merchandising, etc... All kinds of genres.

Lots of moderately priced used LP's. The Brasil section is one of the best in town.

That is best Shop I found in Lisbon quite a lot of Heavy Metal stuff but a real nice selection of 2nd hand Funk/Soul/Jazz (incl. several crates with brazilian stuff) records, a hella lot cheap 45’s and new HipHop, Dance, Bass Music as well. The prices are european average. Got an original french press of the Incredible Bongo Band “Bongo Rock” for about 20 bucks, a slick copy of The Soul Stirrers’ “Soul’s In… But Gospel’s Out of Sight”, a nice Charles Wright 45 for 1 Euro and a lot more. If you’re in Lisbon make sure to check this one out!

This was found in a little record shop in Lisbon called Carbono. It is pressed on limited edition violet heavyweight vinyl and it looks, and sounds beautiful. The staff in the shop were great, I bought 3 records that came to a disturbing amount, but I did get a free t-shirt and tote bag. So every cloud by David Hart

Carbono is a great shop when you are looking for 2nd hand vinyl records.

The back of the large room is reserved for vinyl and the 45 RPM records cartons are most promising.
It's not always the records, but the special Portuguese sleeves are very interesting.

There's space enough to sit and go around the boxes in your pace.

Don't forget the first section of the shop; I found some interesting CD's as well.

Mo-Sa: 11AM - 7PM.

What to buy: Records!

What to pay: From 50 Eurocents and up.

The staff may be grumpy, but it’s hard not to like Carbono, with its impressive selection of new and secondhand vinyl and CDs. World music – West African boogaloo, Brazilian tropicalia – is especially well represented.
